The Workday with Laura McKenna

Laura McKenna grew up in Ohio and got her first job in radio in La Crosse in 2005. She packed up her stuff, made the move, and has been in Wisconsin ever since! Her favorite season is winter but she loves to spend all summer in her vegetable garden. When she isn't in her pink kitchen cooking up vegetarian recipes, more than likely she's taking bubble baths, reading mystery novels (sometimes while in a bubble bath), cheering for THEE Ohio State Buckeyes, or officiating weddings! She married her best friend from college last year but they still don't live in the same house yet. Laura's favorite way to spend a Friday night is watching Dateline with her cat (Phil Dawson) on her lap. She's thrilled to be keeping you company during the workday!

Movie Review: Crime 101

If you’re looking for a great heist movie, I think you’ll love Crime 101! The performances by Halle Berry, Chris Hemsworth, and Mark Ruffalo were fantastic. And if you watched The Banshees of Inisherin (2022), Barry Keoghan plays a totally different character in Crime 101 (2026). And he’s really, really good, too! In fact, when […]

In The Kitchen with Laura McKenna: Dyeing Easter Eggs…Naturally

When I think of Easter Eggs, I think of egg salads sandwiches (and now I want to eat one!) So I think it’s really important to know what you’re dyeing those eggs with because what seeps into the shell can seep into the egg itself. And who wants to feed extra chemicals to their family? […]

Movie Review: Roofman

I’m going to start out by saying that I love Channing Tatum, so I’m completely biased. COMPLETELY. That being said, aside from my admiration, he is a really good actor. And don’t scoff at that…. he is! He has range. He can ham it up in slapstick comedy movies like 21 Jump Street (2012), dance […]

Laura McKenna Book Club: The Power Couple

I picked this book off the shelf without knowing anything about it- I just literally judged a book by its cover. I thought this one looked interesting and with only a few chapters left, the cover did not lead me astray. I can’t put it down. If you’re looking for a good thriller with some […]

Movie Monday: Oscar winning actress teams up with James Patterson for a new legal thriller novel

I love a good book. Even better when a great book gets turned into a really good movie. It doesn’t always happen. Usually the book is always so much better than the movie but I can think of a few that really did it well: Water For Elephants. Gone Girl. The Shawshank Redemption. The Green […]
