Woodstock 2029?
Netflix just released the new documentary highlighting the train wreck that was Woodstock 1999. Woodstock 1999 was commemorating 30 years since the original Woodstock in 1969. The two concert festivals were not held in the exact same location, which, according to the documentary, might have actually been part of the reason why it went so […]

Uh oh, Mosquito!
So, it seems like we are now in the thick of prime mosquito season. Historically, I would get bit by a mosquito, smash it, and move on. The itching would start usually later that day and would continue until I scratched the bite open, it would bleed, scab over, and then heal. It has been […]

Cheapskate or DIY Enthusiast?
Let me state for the record that there is a difference between being a cheapskate, and merely wanting to save money. I often talk about that when I talk about our Big Deals store on our website. Saving money is always a good idea because after all, who has too much money? I certainly don’t. […]

A/C Season!
Ok so it’s not officially summer yet. But it’s been warm enough for me to kick on the air conditioning in the car. Do you know how to use your car’s A/C system properly? Most vehicles have a recirculation button as part of their A/C controls, but many people aren’t sure when to use it. […]

These days, AI is everywhere. Artificial intelligence technology is used in so many different areas of our daily lives, sometimes we don’t even know it’s being utilized. The most basic form is your virtual assistant on your phone, like Siri and Alexa. Those can be super helpful and convenient. There’s also artificial intelligence system systems […]

It’s Here…
Just a couple of weeks ago was Severe Weather Awareness Week. The National Weather Service created it so people can learn about severe weather and put an action plan in place in the event of severe storms. Well, that time has come! As broadcasters, we may sound like a broken record at times, with the […]

Support Local!
It’s the reality of our every day, wanting to get the best deal. Many people shop online for the convenience and (in many cases) the cost savings. Often times this means the money you spend leaves our local economy and goes to other places. Most of us want to support our local economy as much […]

“I Could Pass With Flying Colors”
Or so I thought! I have been driving for over 32 years. In that time, I have shown that I’m a pretty good driver. Being a pretty good driver probably means that you know the rules and regulations of the road, right? Well, not so fast. What you think and what you actually know are […]

Do you do this??
For as long as I can remember, I have been a fingernail chewer. When you think about it, it is actually really disgusting. And, somehow, I am a germ fanatic at the same time. I know they say that some people chew their fingernails because they are anxious. For me, it must be a subconscious […]

Anyone Can Do Anything.
In my last blog, I wrote about Autism Awareness Month and what it means. Today, I want to share a story that I read this morning that signifies how far people on the autism spectrum can go. A friend of mine lives in Northern Michigan and saw this post on a community Facebook forum. It […]

Napster!?
Napster. Just the thought of that word brings back memories of 1999. Illegal music downloads. It was the KING of illegal downloads back in the day. After being shutdown, it spawned an entire army of wannabe “programs” (apps only existed as the snack you ate, before you actually ate) that mimicked its style and functionality. […]

Memories, thanks to Google Maps?
This morning I had a little extra time on my hands (which doesn’t happen very often) and I decided to look on Google Maps, at some street views of my old neighborhood in Minnesota. I remember when Street View first became a thing, people got nervous because they thought it would be an invasion of […]

Oscars
The 97th Academy Awards were held in Hollywood last night. The glitz, the glamour, the blahhhhhh… I’ve long adored Hollywood. At one time, I even imagined myself being an actor. They say you’ll never truly realize your dreams unless you attempt to make them come true. Then I realized my radio-friendly face wouldn’t jive with […]

It Finally Happened
Well, it finally happened. These ridiculously high egg prices have finally caught up with me. If you don’t know, I am a big consumer of eggs. I’ve said for many years how I believe eggs are the world’s perfect food. High in protein, low in price. What could be better than that? Well, they are […]

I Feel Guilty.
Let me start out by saying that I’m not the biggest NASCAR fanatic there is, but when the season starts, I always love to take in the action at Daytona. Yesterday was the Daytona 500. And it seems that more often than not, weather delays have become a big part of America’s race. I’m probably […]

I’m Back…and (slightly) Bigger!
If you have ever been on a cruise, you know one of the biggest draws is the incredible food offerings. Some people go on cruises for that reason alone! I do look at it as an opportunity to eat different types of food that I would not get to eat at home. One example of […]

Surprising Grammy Snubs
With the 67th Grammy Awards coming up this Sunday, I was reading about some of the biggest artists that have never won music’s highest honor. Some of the names on this list are so big, it’s difficult to fathom how these people have never won a Grammy Award. Some of these people are absolute A-list […]

Spring’s Coming!
Leave it to me to talk about Spring on one of the coldest days of the season. I’m completely frozen to the bone. Perhaps it’s these cold days that really flares up my cabin fever. I haven’t concealed the fact that I don’t like winter. I’ve lived here in the upper Midwest my entire life […]
