Is This Shrinkflation!?

Everything’s expensive these days. Prices seem to be constantly rising on almost everything we buy, including groceries. For those items that don’t increase in price, they often decrease in size. This has been (jokingly) referred to as “shrinkflation.” Well, I can attest it’s no joke. Shrinkflation is alive and well!
I ordered groceries for delivery the other day. Planning to make a family meal, I ordered 3 zucchini. I assumed the zucchini would be of at least average size. Sometimes they’re massive. But the last couple of times I bought them, they were on the smaller side of average. Nothing could’ve prepared me for what I received in my order………

These little finger-sized zucchini must’ve been stolen from a dollhouse farmer’s market. If I slice one in half, I’d have two zucchini fries. I feel like cutting them would be immoral. Something so small and cute should not be eaten….they should be set-free after apologizing to them. Return them to their mom so they can grow up and lead productive lives.

Is this the best example of “Shrinkflation?” No, not by a long shot. In fact, I’m sure these aren’t priced each, but rather sold by the pound. These three little future zucchini probably barely cost me a dollar. That’s probably money well spent for a laugh. But at the end of the day, I still wanted to make zucchini as part of our supper. Oh well.
