The CFW Workday with Laura McKenna

Laura McKenna grew up in Ohio and got her first job in radio in La Crosse in 2005. She packed up her stuff, made the move, and has been in Wisconsin ever since! Her favorite season is winter but she loves to spend all summer in her vegetable garden. When she isn't in her pink kitchen cooking up vegetarian recipes, more than likely she's taking bubble baths, reading mystery novels (sometimes while in a bubble bath), cheering for THEE Ohio State Buckeyes, or officiating weddings! She married her best friend from college last year but they still don't live in the same house yet. Laura's favorite way to spend a Friday night is watching Dateline with her cat (Phil Dawson) on her lap. She's thrilled to be back keeping you company during the workday on 105-7 CFW!

In The Kitchen with Laura McKenna: “Where Ya BEAN All My Life” Dip

Just like my Ugly Corn Dip recipe, this could easily be called: Ugly Bean Dip. Don’t be alarmed by the dip’s less than appealing looks because you’ll love the taste (and how easy it is to prepare)! Mix all ingredients in a small crock pot and melt down to a creamy consistency. Serve with tortilla […]

In The Kitchen with Laura McKenna: Ugly Corn Dip

WARNING: This dip looks disgusting, hence the name. However, it’s so good that you will likely need to double or triple the recipe. Trust me. I have my cousin to thank for this great tailgate must-have.  I first tasted this dip at a party we had at my parent’s house to cheer on the Cleveland […]

Movie Monday: Green and Gold

“The movie was super good. It’s a tear-jerker. Bring Kleenex.” That’s the first movie review I received for Green and Gold through our text-line on the Civic Media App and the rest that followed were very, very similar. I cannot wait to see this movie and the more I learn about it, the more I […]

Happy Chinese New Year! Everything you need to know about THE YEAR OF THE SNAKE and your specific zodiac sign!

Today is one of my favorite days of the year! It’s Chinese New Year! Or some call it: The Lunar New Year and the start of the Spring Festival. The celebration marks the end of winter and the arrival of the spring season on the lunisolar calendar. Plus, it signifies the start of the new […]

Movie Monday: Rapid Fire Q & A From “The Last Showgirl”

Adorable. Pamela Anderson and Kiernan Shipka are adorable. That’s it. That’s all you need to know. Ok, but I do have more on this Movie Monday… I have not seen The Last Showgirl yet but early reviews were expecting Pamela Anderson to receive an Oscar Nom for her role as Shelly (a seasoned showgirl dealing […]

In The Kitchen with Laura McKenna: Waffle Mix Recipe (that can be made dairy-free or not!)

With the recent recall of Quaker Oats’ two-pound boxes of Pearl Milling Company Original Pancake & Waffle Mix due to concerns of undeclared milk in the packaging, try my favorite homemade recipe for waffles instead! Dairy allergies are NOT fun and I’ve made this recipe both ways- with real milk and butter and my preferred […]
