Field Trip: Explore Wisconsin’s Natural Treasures

WAUSAU, Wis. (WXCO) – Over 270 adventures are planned from April to early November across Wisconsin for this years 32nd Natural Resources Foundation field trips.

These trips are led by experts that show a guided look at the state’s natural treasures. The options are wide and range from butterflies to boat trips.

These adventures can be easy to extreme, with 5 different categories to choose from. They have a nice interactive and informational color coated map showing where these activities are, when and how much they cost. On the right side of the website you can also see trips arranged by things like family friendly to biking specific and more. It’s a way to get active, be outside and learn something.

Those interested are encouraged to sign up soon, trips fill quickly.

Spring Blooms & Geology: April 25th, 8-11a.m.

Spring Birding at Mead:  May 10th, 7-11a.m. 

Dragonflies of the Wolf River Watershed: June 29th from 9a.m.-1p.m.

Penokee Hills: Beaver Ponds & Wetlands: July 26th 10a.m.-3p.m. 

Canoe the Upper Dells: August 14th from 9a.m-3p.m.

Climate Smart Forestry:  September 14th, 10a.m.-12p.m.

Introduction to Foraging: October 4th 9a.m.-12p.m.

“It’s good for people to get outside as much as possible,” said Christine Tanzer a NRF field trip director in a DNR press release. “They have a blast on these trips. And, if they fall in love with the place they’re exploring, maybe they’ll get inspired to protect those places, too.”

The Natural Resources Foundation of Wisconsin is a nonprofit that protects our state’s lands, waters and wildlife and connects all people with nature.

Registration is only available online starting at noon on April 8th.

Field trips are non-refundable and will run rain or shine.
