Restaurant Roundup: Madison eateries closing, another reopens after renovations
MADISON, Wis (WMDX) – Across Madison, multiple restaurants are shutting down, and a local favorite is reopening.
Short Stack Eatery: Closing May 25
The owners announced in January they’d be closing to pursue other dreams. The State Street breakfast spot routinely had lines going out the door.
Touch of Ukraine: Closing May 31
The restaurant is over on Winnebago Street, off Stoughton Road. It was started by Ukrainian refugees who left their home because of the war with Russia. In their announcement, they thanked the community for their support.
One & Only: Closing May 31
The Monroe Street spot is in the former location of Brasserie V on Monroe Street. They’ve only been open about two years. On their final day open, instead of their regular menu, they’ll be serving free appetizers to patrons. Owners said “We have treasured our time serving our guests, and truly wish it was financially viable to continue doing so.”
Rue Bourre: Closed
The Cajun restaurant over on Cottage Grove Road closed for good as the owner experiences health issues in her pregnancy, and wants to focus on taking care of herself and her family. Last week, she sold the last of the freezer favorites and shut down for good.
Ha Long Bay: Back Open
The popular Willy Street eatery closed for renovations in April 2024. It has a whole new look inside, and is now serving cocktails too.
