GREEN BAY, Wis (WGBW) – It took 10 days, but many Cellcom customers are finally seeing a return of voice and text services following what the company calls a “cyber incident.”

The outage started on Wednesday, May 14. Over the week, the company began repairing their services, allowing text messages. Voice services, however, were still hit and miss.

On Sunday, Cellcom announced that customers were starting to see a return to service. The company emphasized restoration would not be complete immediately and some disruptions could still occur.

“While we’re working hard to minimize those (disruptions), this is a normal part of the process,” the social media post said. “Real progress is being made every day and full restoration could happen at any time.”

Hundreds of customers commented that they still were unable to make or receive calls on the Cellcom network.

In an earlier social media post, the cell and communications company said that its official Facebook page and designated landing page, cellcom.com/service, would remain the single source of truth for the updates and information on the outage.

In a video posted on the Cellcom website, CEO Brighid Riordan gave no timeline for the full restoration of service.

“You have our total commitment that we are doing everything we can, along with global experts, our partners, who have flown in from around the world to get this restored. And that’s our priority,” she said.

Cellcom is a part of NSight, a company that supplies cellphone, internet, and business communications, towers and maintenance in Northeast and Central Wisconsin and parts of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
