Governor Evers highlights dairy’s economic impact in honor of Dairy Month
WISCONSIN (CIVIC MEDIA) – Governor Tony Evers and the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) are highlighting the economic impact of the state’s dairy industry in honor of Dairy Month.
According to DATCP data, the dairy industry contributes over $50 billion to the state’s economy and supports over 120,000 jobs
Wisconsin has more dairy farms than any other state in the country, and about 80 percent of the milk produced is exported. About 20 percent of Wisconsin’s milk products are exported internationally.
Gov. Evers has proposed including a $1.5 million Dairy Agriculture Resilience Investment Now Grant (DARING) in the state budget with the goal of supporting on-farm projects.
