As soon as baseball season begins, it’s time to fire up the grill. But before you place a bratwurst on there, make sure it’s not one of the packages involved in the bratwurst recall.
I know I don’t have any of these at home (being a vegetarian and all) but the makers of Johnsonville brats are encouraging consumers to check both their fridge and freezers.
Over the weekend, Johnsonville issued the recall of approximately 22,672 pounds of cheddar bratwurst product that may be contaminated with foreign material. Specifically hard plastic.
The packages look like this…
The 19-oz. sealed firm tray packages containing five pieces of “Johnsonville Brats CHEDDAR Bratwurst” have the package code: B9FOD.
The packages contain the establishment number “Est. 1647” on the front of the label. These items were shipped to retail locations in Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia, and Wisconsin.
More information can be found on the USDA’s recall website. Consumers with food safety questions can call a toll-free hotline at 888-674-6854.
