So, it seems like we are now in the thick of prime mosquito season. Historically, I would get bit by a mosquito, smash it, and move on. The itching would start usually later that day and would continue until I scratched the bite open, it would bleed, scab over, and then heal. It has been this way my entire life. I never once thought there was anything I could do to prevent the mosquito bite from itching, short of preventing the bite in the first place with bug spray. Last week, I read an article online that talked about how you should wash the affected area immediately after getting bit by the mosquito. Warm soap and water. I gave it a try, and to my surprise, it actually worked! A few days back, I got bit by a mosquito and then washed the area with soap and water. The bite never got inflamed or itchy. It’s almost as if the bite never happened. I guess I can’t say 100% that the soapy water will help in every situation, but give it a try next time you get bit. Or just use the bug spray!
