
Romeo John “Sonny” Schutze, age 85, formerly of Prentice and the Milwaukee area, died on Saturday March 7, 2026, at Aspirus Regency House in Phillips WI with his sons by his side. He was born in Prentice on February 5, 1941 to parents Jack and Elizabeth (Siok) Schutze where he worked on the family farm and later graduated from Prentice High School. He was drafted into the US Army serving in Germany from 1964 to 1965. He then worked as a Plumber in Milwaukee for many years, and as a member of the Plumbers Union Local 75, then returned to the Northwoods after his retirement. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, driving his tractor, trivia, and most of all spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his three sons: Steve, of Fond du Lac, Brian, of Slinger, and Scott (Giang), of Muskego; his grandchildren Alyssa, Madelyn, Aidan and McKenna, as well as nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters: Victoria Zernia and Angeline Gepfert.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff and residents at Aspirus Regency House and Saint Croix Hospice for the care and compassion shown our father during his time with them.
A private service will be held at a later date.
