Construction work on the new Rogers Behavioral Health Hospital in Chippewa Falls officially broke ground this week.
The Chippewa Falls City Council approved the final permit needed to begin construction of the new mental healthcare facility last month. The Wisconsin State Legislature’s Joint Finance Committee unanimously approved the release of $10 million in funding to support the new mental health and substance abuse treatment center earlier this year.
When completed, the Rogers Behavioral Health Hospital will offer a full range of behavioral health services including inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization, and outpatient care for Chippewa Valley residents. The goal is to replace some of the mental healthcare services that were lost with the closure of HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital and all of the Prevea clinics in the region two years ago. While construction work is underway on the hospital, Rogers Behavioral Health is also planning to open two mental health clinics in Chippewa Falls and Eau Claire later this year.
In addition to the Rogers Behavioral Health Hospital, construction work on the new Aspirus Health Hospital in Chippewa Falls is nearing completion. Organization officials celebrated a significant construction milestone for the project earlier this year, and expect the site to be ready to open in September. The Chippewa Valley Cooperative Hospital at the former HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital site also recently opened new wound care services, with more services expected to open in waves throughout the rest of the year.
With the final conditional use permit approved, construction work on the Rogers Behavioral Health Hospital officially broke ground on Thursday. Organization officials expect to open the new treatment center sometime in the Spring of 2027.
