If you have ever been on a cruise, you know one of the biggest draws is the incredible food offerings. Some people go on cruises for that reason alone! I do look at it as an opportunity to eat different types of food that I would not get to eat at home. One example of that is escargot. I ate escargot four different nights on this cruise. A couple of my table maids did not have the guts to try it, I told them they do not know what they’re missing. If you have never tried escargot, I would compare it to mushrooms in drawn butter. Delicious! I was a little disappointed that the cruise line did not offer lobster tail on this voyage. Apparently they only offer that on seven night cruises and longer. Back in the old days, they offered lobster on pretty much every cruise and you could order multiples. It was not uncommon for us to start with four lobster tails each. But as you can imagine, lobster tail is not cheap, so something had to give. Just prior to covid, most of the cruise lines changed their policies on offering unlimited lobster tail, among other things. The new policy calls for an extra charge per additional lobster tail. Booooo!!
OK, so with all of this eating going on, you might want to know how much weight I gained. On average, when I go on a weeklong cruise, I gain about 10 pounds. Keeping in mind though, that is with me eating pretty much uncontrollably throughout the week. As I have gotten older and a little smarter, I realize that I cannot keep doing this. So I was a little more tame on this cruise. I am proud to say that my weight gain was only 2 pounds!
My plan is to eat healthy and work out over the next month before we go on a spring break cruise with our daughter. Maybe if I lose some weight before that cruise, I can loosen up the belt a little more. Or maybe not.

Trimming Trees!
Last year, I treated myself to another (manly) tool to add to my arsenal. I always wanted to have my own chainsaw, but figured that I probably wouldn’t get a lot of use out of it. So, last year, I bought myself a new electric pole saw. Which is basically a small chainsaw at the […]

That’s It, I’m Done
If you’ve listened to my show the last few weeks, I’ve been talking at length about my kidney stone. I had surgery over a week ago to remove the stone, then my urologist put in a stent into my kidney. Well, I finally had that stent removed and everything seems to be good! I do […]

This Time It’s Painfully Different
If you have listened to my ramblings over the past couple of weeks regarding the kidney stone, you’re probably sick of hearing about it. But I can assure you not nearly as sick as I am of dealing with it! I had surgery on Tuesday morning to remove the stone. At least, that’s what I […]

A Cell Phone At How Old!?
I saw a post on Facebook the other day from a guy whose seven year old daughter has a cell phone. I think for most of us, that seems a little young. And the general consensus in the comments section of the post was exactly that. Lots of different opinions were represented! That brings up […]
