The 97th Academy Awards were held in Hollywood last night. The glitz, the glamour, the blahhhhhh…
I’ve long adored Hollywood. At one time, I even imagined myself being an actor. They say you’ll never truly realize your dreams unless you attempt to make them come true. Then I realized my radio-friendly face wouldn’t jive with a camera, so I threw in the towel.
For me, the blah factor of the Oscars comes in the speeches. It seems that every actor feels the need to make a huge statement. Actors, by nature, are dramatic people, sure. But save the drama for the big screen! Last night, there were a couple of speeches that were so blatantly over-dramatic, it was cringeworthy. I would imagine that winning an Oscar is such an incredible achievement, it would invoke some overly dramatic emotions. But if it looks and sounds like cringe, it’s probably cringe.
Ok, now I will step off my soap box. Carry on, Hollywood. I’ve got some Oscar winning films to watch.

Uh oh, Mosquito!
So, it seems like we are now in the thick of prime mosquito season. Historically, I would get bit by a mosquito, smash it, and move on. The itching would start usually later that day and would continue until I scratched the bite open, it would bleed, scab over, and then heal. It has been […]
