For the first time in history, an American has been elected Pope, the leader of the Roman Catholic Church. Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost is the 267th pope, and will be known as Leo XIV. In the coming days, weeks, and months, we will learn more about Pope Leo and what he will bring to the Catholic Church. He was born in Chicago and studied at Villanova University. He speaks English, Italian, Spanish, French and Portuguese, and he also can read German and Latin.
