You can vote for your favorite toys now through September 25th at toyhalloffame.org. The 3 toys that receive the most public votes will make up a “Player’s Choice” ballot that will be tallied along with ballots from 22 historians and other experts.
This year’s toys that are up for induction are:
-Transformers
-Hobbyhorse (Stick Horse)
-Phase 10 card game
-My Little Pony
-Trampoline
-Sequence game
-Remote Control Car
-Balloons
-Pokemon
-Hess Toy Trucks
-Apples To Apples game
-Choose Your Own Adventure Books
It’s hard for me to believe that My Little Pony toys have been nominated for seven times already and never made it in! Maybe that’s just me being partial as an ’80s baby. Also Transformers? How are those not in already, too?
Don’t get me wrong, I love to read and think books should be a regular part of every person’s childhood….but….
Choose Your Own Adventure Books?
Those aren’t really a toy, right? It’s a book, not a toy. And sure, you can play with a book but its purpose it to be read. You can play with a lot of things but I don’t think that makes them “a toy”. I used an unplugged curling iron growing up to pretend I was entertaining huge crowds but I wouldn’t call a curling iron “a toy”. Get what I’m saying?
However, don’t let me sway your toy voting. You do you. But do it before voting closes on the 25th: toyhalloffame.org

Movie Monday: “Moana 2” Rides A Huge Wave Into Theaters
Moana 2 had the biggest five-day opening of all time, with $221 million. Earnings were tallied from movie goers from Thanksgiving Eve (Wednesday) showings through Sunday. What’s interesting is that the first Moana did well but didn’t seem to perform as great as some other animated movies did when originally released. In fact, it wasn’t even […]

Movie Monday: Before there was Wicked, there was The Wizard in Wisconsin
Wicked blasted into theaters over the weekend and brought in $114 million (domestically) and another global haul of $164.2 million. However, long before Wicked, there was The Wizard of Oz. Chronologically, by release date, I mean. Since Wicked – technically – is the prequel to The Wizard of Oz (if we’re speaking purely on plot). […]

Movie Monday: 2 Thrillers that Laura McKenna says are worth a watch
If you are fan of thrillers, I watched two good movies back-to-back on Saturday night. STRAW DOGSI started with the James Marsden and Kate Bosworth version of Straw Dogs from 2011. I honestly didn’t even know there was an original Straw Dogs with Dustin Hoffman from 1971 until I did some digging. This one has […]
