Mike McKay
Mornings with Mike McKay
Mike is BACK on the air every morning all across Eau Claire and the Chippewa Valley on 105-7 CFW! With over 28+ years in the Chippewa Valley, this has become home for Mike and his wife Lori. His kids grew up here and they still live here as well. When he's not on the air waking up the Valley, Mike spends time working around the house and yard as well as relaxing on the deck, usually more time relaxing than working! Weekends mean exploring the area and even after all these years, both he and his wife Lori still find things they've never seen before. Mike enjoys a little bit of online poker and spending quality time with his Pomeranian GiGi and kitty "Violet". Oh, and hockey is the only sport that matters in his house, "GO WILD"!

Be careful, a Super Moon is coming!
Tomorrow night we’ll get to see another Super moon. The full moon will be bigger and brighter than a typical full moon. So, does that mean people will be more “off”? It seems that people act differently during a full moon. However, according to an A.I. search: the belief that people act “crazy” during a […]

Way too much candy!
Today is “bring your leftover candy to work” day. You’ve had enough candy, right? So, you bring it to work and share it with your coworkers. Of course, they’re doing the same thing. Here’s the problem, all the “good stuff” is gone. Looks like a lot of Smarties and sour candy in that breakroom. Next […]

Don’t eat the wax!
Halloween means all kinds of candy including candy corn which people seem to either love or hate. When I was a kid my favorite was wax candy bottles, wax candy flavored lips and mustaches! I think they’re still around. If you’ve never savored the one drop of yummy liquid in a wax bottle you are […]

It’s all gone!!
Have you finished your “Halloween candy” already? Is it time to reload so you actually have some for Halloween to hand out to the kids? This is why the candy companies put this on the store shelves in August, it’s brilliant. They know there is no way we’ll buy it and let it sit until […]

Sorry, I read that wrong!
You ever see a headline of an online story and realize it’s not what you thought it was going to be about? That happened today! I saw that it was National Nut Day and thought I should reach out to my sister and say hello. Then I read the story and it’s about NUTS that […]

This thing is disgusting!
A new study was done about the handles on gas pumps. The vast majority of them are covered with bacteria, feces and other bodily fluids. REGARDLESS of where you get gas. Experts suggest you wash your hands after fueling up your vehicle or at the very least use hand wipes. You might want to invest […]

How’s that workin’ out for you?
It happens to all of us, right? You order your food, you get your food, you take that first bite and out of nowhere someone from the waitstaff checks in with you. “How’s everything?” I don’t know about you but it’s hard to respond with a mouthful of food. I get it, they want to […]

Thursday is a weird day!
If you work Monday through Friday you may feel like Thursday is a weird day. Here’s my thought. It’s almost Friday, which means it’s almost the weekend. But, you have to make sure you’re caught up with your work because you don’t want it to pile up for Friday because you’ll be stressed trying to […]

Just put up more shelves!
Do you have a lot of stuff? We do. The problem is you never get rid of it “just in case we need it someday”. So, what do you do with that stuff? You build a shelf, you know so you have a place to store it. Problem is when you fill that shelf you […]

No Mail Service Today!
It’s a National holiday today. It’s Columbus day and Indigenous Peoples Day today which means no mail service. Could we add to that and make it no EMAIL day today too? Wouldn’t it be great to take a day off from non-stop emails. Maybe when Congress gets back to work they could get that done […]

That can’t be real!
I’ve heard it over and over, the stories you share on the radio can’t be real. I assure they are not only 100 percent real but it would be impossible for me to make up these things. Reality is way crazier than fiction. That’s one of the things I love about this job is that […]

Yep, I said it!
There’s been times when you say something and you get the old “I can’t believe you said that” response. I don’t understand that response. We all have opinions and thoughts about things in life. What makes us human is having thoughts and many times we’ll disagree about those thoughts or opinions. Not that long ago […]

It’s Monday (again!?)
It happens every week, Monday. Have you noticed that it’s how it’s said that can make the day. Follow me for a second. If you say “it’s Monday again (ugh)” you’re obviously dreading the day. But, if you try “it’s Monday!” as in let’s get a fresh start, your day may go just a little […]

My driving world collided yesterday!
4-way stops can be the worst. But, have you had 4 cars, each going straight pull up to the 4 way stop at the EXACT same time? That’s what happened to me yesterday. No one moved. Each one was waving the other to go, but no one did. Then we all tried to go at […]

Football makes no sense!
As I’m watching some “football” over the weekend, I thought football makes no sense. Not the game, the NAME. Sure they kick the ball from time to time, field goals, extra points and punts but the whole concept of the game is to tackle the person with the ball. The game should be called TACKLEball. […]

Why don’t people use their vacation days?
I just saw a recent survey that said 62-percent of American workers didn’t use all their vacation days in 2024. Some of the reasons: no place to go, worried about their job and some said they’d rather work then just sit around the house. I’ve always been under the impression that vacation days or “PTO” […]

I thought we’d try something different today.
